Troubleshoot Custom Domain Verification
The two errors VLVTN reports
Verification checks the TXT record. When it cannot confirm the record, VLVTN reports one of two messages.
How to fix it
- Check the TXT hostConfirm the TXT record host is _vlvtn-verify.yourdomain, using your actual domain.
- Check the TXT valueConfirm the value matches the verification token VLVTN shows in the Custom Domains section exactly.
- Wait for propagationDNS changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate. If you just added the record, give it time.
- Run Verify againSelect Verify. The button reads Checking while it runs. When the TXT record is found, the status changes from Pending verification to Verified.
Frequently asked
Verify says TXT record not found. What do I do?
VLVTN reports TXT record not found. Make sure you've added the DNS record and waited for propagation. Confirm the TXT host is _vlvtn-verify.yourdomain and the value matches the token VLVTN shows, then run Verify again.
Verify says DNS lookup failed. What does that mean?
VLVTN reports DNS lookup failed. The TXT record may not have propagated yet. Wait, since DNS changes can take up to 48 hours, then run Verify again.
Which record is checked during verification?
Verification checks the TXT record. The CNAME is what serves your links once the domain is verified, but the Verify step looks for the TXT verification record.
The status still says Pending verification. Is that a problem?
Not on its own. Pending verification, shown in yellow, simply means the TXT record has not been confirmed yet. Once it is found the badge turns to Verified in green.
